If you want to build programs you'll need gcc
, binutils
, make
and probably other packages from the ``Devel'' category. The best approach is to just install 'All' from the cygwin installation script. It is somewhat counterintuitive. Keep clicking the top button until it says 'All'. Then all you need is to unpack the archive and type:
make
I have the same issue and I tried to follow your advice and decided to install 'All' from cygwin installation script. I wanted to confirm if installation of all packages takes forever. I have been running the installation for almost 10 hours now and it has installed just ~10% of the total packages. Am I doing something wrong?
