The Biotechnology Centre is searching for Junior Research Group Leader in Bioinformatics (up to E15 TV-L) until the 30.09.2018 (The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). Depending on qualifications, the position is offered with the option of a permanent contract for the junior research group leader as a member of academic staff with evaluation after 5 years. With the foundation of the Biotechnology Centre (BIOTEC, www.biotec.tu-dresden.de), a unique scientific focus on Molecular Bioengineering at the interface of modern life sciences and engineering was established in Dresden.

Tasks: At BIOTEC, the successful applicant will work in bioinformatics in research and teaching. The candidate is expected to teach in the programmes of BIOTEC, the Faculty of Computer Science, and/or the Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering. Your research should integrate well with and complement the interdisciplinary research at the BIOTEC. Interdisciplinary cooperation with university and non-university research groups, e.g. in the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden, the Center for Innovation Competence B CUBE, the MPI-CBG, and the local biotechnology industry are desirable.

Requirements: The successful applicant must have an university degree and PhD in Bioinformatics or similar also an excellent reputation as a researcher in the field of bioinformatics. Research should focus on developing and applying novel computational methods and algorithms (e.g. using networks, function prediction, image analysis, modelling, or sequence analysis) to high-throughput data in molecular and cell biology.
