Expressed Sequences Tags For Identifying Mirna Promoters

Can anybody tell me how ESTs can be used for identifying mirna promoters? I have gone through few papers like http://www.pnas.org/content/104/45/17719.long and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3241639/ but couldn't actually get the proper details.

Are you asking how to find sequences on the genome that regulate miRNA transcription using ESTs?

ya i mean that only:promoters

Assuming you've already identified probable miRNA from the ESTs you could map the miRNA back to the genome and look for promoters that are known to regulate nearby genes.
