Finding A Whole Genome Background Gene List For Homo Sapiens

Hello everyone,

I am currently giving GOrilla a trial run for a gene list functional overrepresentation analysis, but GOrilla does not supply a built in background list against which to compare a submitted list (unlike say DAVID or PANTHER). Would anyone be able to advise me on where to obtain such a background list? In essence I want a whole genome background list of gene symbols (my gene list is in the gene symbol format, as such I would like to avoid using other formats).

Thank you to anyone who may be able to offer some help on this.

FYI, I used GOrilla quite a while back and found that it was miscalculating things. While I fully expect that this bug has already been fixed, you might double check a value or two (we were getting numbers that didn't remotely make sense, so this should be quickly apparent if it's still broken). Better safe than sorry!

No trouble!

I have been shown how to assemble one using the Ensembl BioMart.
