I have a data set of measurements of protein abundance in relative sense. Hence, the data set of proteins is not integer. Is there anyway to do enrichment analysis? The protein measurements are relative to a fixed reference. In this case, the adding proteins in different sample in the dataset is valid or at least, it makes sense in dimension and scale. In particular, central limit theorem can still be applied to mean random variable.
The conventional enrichment analysis is through hypergeometric test. In this case, the parameters of hypergeometric tests are not integers. Thus you cannot apply this test.
