Hi, I want to extract blocks of sequences from a collection of sequences using Excel. First I need to set anchor points on various regions of the sequence, what Excel functions do I use please?

Excel is not the right tool for the job. If you're new to bioinformatics, you should probably get acquainted with some of the tools available. Can you reformulate the question stating what format the data is in and what you're trying to achieve. Someone will then point you in the right direction.
