using modeltest-ng on an RNA virus

I wish to use modeltest-ng on a RNA virus. The genome sequences I have are cDNA sequences. When I enter them into modeltest-ng do I say they are DNA which they are, or RNA from which they were derived? Or do I need to transcribe them back to RNA first to use modeltest-ng properly?
