As part of the UKRI EPSRC Fellowship ‘GREET: Generative Recombinant Enzyme Engineering for Therapeutics’, I am looking for exceptionally talented, hard working computational and experimental scientists to develop a new platform to engineer enzyme replacement therapies. Two full time positions are available starting January 2022:

Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in deep learning for therapeutics engineering (4 years)

The candidate is expected to design, develop, and test innovative deep learning models to engineer and manufacture new therapeutic enzymes for rare enzymatic disorders. The successful candidate will focus on variational and adversarial models and will work closely with experimental scientists in the group.

Research technologist in therapeutic enzyme engineering (3 years)

The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing standard and automated protocols for therapeutic enzyme expression and functional characterisation in P. pastoris. The candidate will work in close collaboration with the Edinburgh Genome Foundry.

The project is a unique opportunity to build a highly competitive profile at the intersection of deep learning, synthetic biology and therapeutics engineering, and to work with industrial partners leaders in the pharmaceutical field, such as Fujifilm Diosynth. Both positions will have access to state-of-the-art computational and experimental equipment, including a new molecular biology laboratory, a new GPU high performance computing cluster, funding for traveling and personal/professional development activities provided by the University of Edinburgh.
