Hello, I am trying to determine which genes/genes (~40000 in totals) have contributions to a specific trait.

Basically, I have ~40000 columns of gene + 1 column of specific trait, and ~3000 rows of samples.

Q. How can i determine which genes/genes contribute the most to that specific trait?

Thank you in advance.

You need to give us more information about your experiment, if you want a specific response. If your experiment is bulk RNA-Seq (not sure as you tagged your question with both RNA and DNA) you need to perform differential expression analysis, and see which genes are up and down in the traits of interest. Have a look at the DESeq2 vignette.
