Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Researcher
The laboratories of Drs. Timothy Ratliff and Phillip Low are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to perform bioinformatic analyses on single-cell RNA-seq data generated in multiple myeloma. The focus of the research is to develop novel and effective immunotherapy of multiple myeloma. In addition to analyzing internal datasets, integrating these data with published datasets is necessary. It is anticipated that probing internal datasets as well as published datasets to better understand the tumor microenvironment will be important to developing novel immunotherapies for the disease.
Essential Functions. Independently perform both routine and project-specific analyses, advise the laboratory group on the design of experiments, write manuscripts for publication, and write grant proposals. It is expected that the candidate will publish the data generated and any new analytical systems developed for the analysis of the datasets. There is an opportunity to interact and collaborate with bioinformatics services at Purdue where applicable. The candidate will support all of the bioinformatics activities of the research group. Two years of support currently is available and continued work will be contingent on the availability of funding.
Qualifications. A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology/Computer Science/Statistics/Biology or a related field is required along with experience in Linux, proficiency in at least one programming languages (e.g. Python, R, Perl, Java, C/C++) and experience with high-throughput sequencing data (WGS, WES, RNA-seq, ChIP-Seq, scRNA-seq) analysis. The candidate must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred: experience with scRNA-seq data.
