Trying to run multiqc and open the report multiqc_report.html using open multiqc_report.html command and getting "Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console" error. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Also, can I open multiqc without having already done feature count script. I'm currently just finished with mapping.
Running
multiqc
and opening run report are two different tasks. If you have managed to do the former then opening html report should be as simply as opening a browser and pointing it tomultiqc_report.html
file. What do you mean by opening the browser and pointing it to multiqc_report.html? Please be more detailed with steps.
Any web browser. MultiQC produces a HTML report. If your server lacks a browser then download the HTML file to your local desktop and open it there.
So what do I type into my web browser? multiqc_report.html nothing comes up
Open the HTML file in a browser. If you have difficulty doing that, google "how to open html file in browser".
EDIT: If you can see the
multiqc_report.html
file in Finder, double click it.getting Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console error
We assume a certain level of proficiency in basic computer usage (at the minimum). We can help you with technical questions, but if you're stuck doing something as simple as opening an HTML file, you need to seek help from someone that can walk you through stuff in person.
you don't need to be a jerk.
I'm sorry that I come across that way, I'm not trying to be one. Your questions started off with how to download a GTF file and are now at how to open an HTML file in a browser, which is backward movement in terms of technical expertise.
I feel like there's something about your situation that you have not been able to communicate effectively with us. Please answer the questions Friederike and I asked previously so we know where you're coming from: Command to move Desktop folder to File in Linux
To start with, answer this: Are you working on a single machine or on two machines (with one connection to another through SSH, say)? From a screenshot you shared, you seem to work on one machine running macOS, but you also mention linux in terms such as "copy to linux" which seems to imply that the "linux" is a separated entity (such as a separate machine that you're connecting to as a remote). Is that what's happening here?
