Constructive Bio is a VC-backed biotechnology startup based at Chesterford Research Park. Our breakthrough technology harnesses the power of genome rewriting and genetic code reprogramming to make valuable products that positively impact the world. We will use our platform to turn cells into bio-renewable factories for the production of novel molecules that were previously inaccessible to natural biology, with diverse uses in industries spanning healthcare, biological research, materials and electronics.

Constructive Bio is a spinout from Professor Jason Chin's laboratory at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge. Learn more about the Chin lab achievements here: https://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/ccsb/jason-chin/

We want to build a team with trust and respect for each other and create a culture of collaboration, openness, curiosity and scientific excellence.

We are looking for a bioinformatician to join our R&D team. The post holder will work closely with our different research teams to improve and optimize our platforms for genome design, genome synthesis and genetic code reprogramming. The ideal candidate will have a background in bioinformatics, systems biology, molecular biology or a related field, with experience in the analysis of omics-type data and design-of-experiments approaches. As an early member of the team, you would have the opportunity to make a big impact in the development of our platform.

  • Familiarity with programming languages (Python, R)
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to integrate large amounts of data

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • Experience working in highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environments
  • Familiarity with tools and databases for genome annotation is desirable
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • RNA-seq
    • Ribosome profiling
    • Protein expression profiling
    • Metabolomics

Ideal candidate will be involved in the design and execution of experiments to improve the performance of our proprietary bacterial strains

Working at Constructive:

We are a small but rapidly growing team - as an early member, you will be immersed in different aspects of the early company set up and there will be ample opportunities for personal development. This is a unique chance to make a big impact in our platform and company culture.
