problems unzipping SRA-Toolkit program

Hi everyone,

I have a problem unpacking the SRA-Toolkit. at start to command:

´tar -xvzf sratoolkit.3.0.0-ubuntu64.tar.gz´

I have the following error:

/usr/bin/gzip: 1: ELF : not found
/usr/bin/gzip: 3: : not found
/usr/bin/gzip: 4: Syntax error: "(" unexpected
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Are you doing this on WSL in Windows?

It would appear that you do not have gzip properly installed. What is the screen output after you type which gzip?

Presumably you are running the command without ´ symbols?
