Merging groups of 1 dataset in R

Hi all, I am trying to merge two groups in 1 dataset. I mean that the dataset has 2 different types of a virus in one organism and the the other also has 2 different types of a virus in another organism. I want to compare the organism with each other and the type of the virus is not important for me. Any hint how to do it?

What have you tried ? A simple merge should work with adequate parameters
