The Section of Pulmonary Diseases, Allergy and Environmental Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our multidisciplinary research team as a Biomedical Data Scientist / Systems Biologist / Omics Data Analyst / Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist.
Position Overview: The successful candidate will lead and support computational analyses of high-dimensional biomedical datasets, including single-cell and bulk transcriptomics, genomics, and integrative multi-omics studies. The position involves active participation in collaborative research projects aimed at understanding mechanisms of lung diseases, with opportunities to co-author peer-reviewed publications.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze transcriptomic (bulk and single-cell), genomic, and other omics data
- Develop and maintain pipelines/tools for reproducible data processing and visualization
- Apply statistical, machine learning, and systems biology approaches to derive biological insights
- Work closely with experimental biologists and physician-scientists
- Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation
Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in R, Python, or other languages for omics analysis
- Experience with high-performance computing (HPC), database management, and statistical modeling
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and packages (e.g., Seurat, DESeq2, Scanpy, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to multitask, manage projects independently, and thrive in a collaborative environment
