Hi all,

I have a list of human Uniprot ACs and I would like to identify all enzymes among them. How would you do this?

Thanks,

Miquel

Well, I guess a simple, and not so sophisticated approach, would be to download either the txt file (e.g. http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/O14733.txt ) or the xml file (e.g. http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/O14733.xml ) and extract the EC number. This is assuming an EC number has been assigned to all enzymes (I'm not quite sure about this part, to be honest.)

Upload the IDs to the UniProt ID mapper (e.g. as UniProt-to-UniProt) then simply select EC number on the display option

The UniProt ID Mapping service can be found at: http://www.uniprot.org/mapping/

Documentation for the service is at http://www.uniprot.org/help/mapping/

Details of how to use the UniProt RESTful Web Services to automate requests to the ID Mapping service can be found at: http://www.uniprot.org/faq/28

Hamish, for giving you the perfect lead-in, thats a beer next time I'm over. But, when is the inteface going to store query history (a la Entrez) to make the Booleans easier?
