We want to call attention to a new feature that previously did not exist.
Each top level post has a button called "Follow" that allows users to opt in to receive notifications on new activity that takes place on that thread.
When a new answer or a new comment is posted notifications will be sent to everyone that follows that thread. These notifications can be Biostar messages or emails. A user can also, at any time, unfollow a post and stop receiving these notifications.
The default notification settings are the following (no pun intended):
- The user that asks a question will follow the thread via email
- Anyone posting a comment or answer will follow the thread via messages
This only applies to new threads. Previous threads are left on their original settings.
Users can also override the above defaults by specifying a different setting in their user accounts.
Hi Albert, somehow my RSS subscription to local messages stopped working and I could not figure out how to reactivate it. Is this feature already available on the new site?
