Hi:

I have downloaded a matrix of gene expression profile:
TCGA_LUAD_exp_HiSeqV2-2015-02-24.tgz from UCSC cancer genome browser

https://genome-cancer.ucsc.edu/proj/site/hgHeatmap/

expression values in this matrix ranged from 0 to 20

What does the values in this data matrix represent?
Is this matrix already normalized to allow direct comparison between samples ?

( It is not convenient for me to use google group for UCSC cancer genome browser, so I have to post here)

Thanks in advance!
Best,

Select the "About Dataset" options from the "Tools" button to find out more about the dataset.

It's not clear what is not convenient (and therefore "not doable") about joining the google group to ask directed questions about the TCGA data in the UCSC browser, but I found this answer myself by just skimming a few of the questions there (you don't have to register):

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/ucsc-cancer-genomics-browser

It's probably worth perusing some of the Q&A's there top get more familiar with the data if you intend to you use it in your research.
