[RUFUS][1] should allow for reference-free variant detection based on k-mer counts (and microassembly of unique kmers between samples). But I cannot find any manual to RUFUS. Does anyone know how to use it?

I just had a quick look at their resources, fairly a new tool published last year 3rd quarter. It seems they are just updating the tool and pushing all the code in the github
here. So I am expecting in few days the markdown doc will be updated in their github
repository. But if you see the installation script it is not that complex and pretty straightforward. However I believe a doc should be there for users to exploit the power of the tool. You can contact the author to ask about the manual if it is ready. I believe it is still at the draft stage. I would recommend to open an issue in github
to address your query to the tool developer to get the manual.
