I'm having problems running fastqc on linux, when I open a sequence it reads up to 95% and since nothing else happens. Using the htop together I see that it is using less than 1.7GB of my 8GB of RAM. One month ago I formatted my note and put only linux (before it was dual boot with windows), I have java 1.8.0_111 and since formatted I could not use fastqc anymore. The sequences are not corrupted, as they are the same ones that were formatted before they were opened.
Has anyone ever had this problem? What can I be doing wrong?
Check and make sure you are using 64-bit Java (
java -version
), if not that may be your problem. You should see a message that includes words64-bit
, if you are using 64-bit java.my java version
java version "1.8.0_111" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_111-b14) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.111-b14, mixed mode)
That is not the problem then. Is this happening to all sequence files?
Yes, in any sequence I try to open.. :(
Can you try downloading a fresh copy of FastQC if you have not done that already?
