Hi! I started working on a project involving methylation analysis, however, I still am a bit confused at where to start. I received methylation data from the TCGA database, containing 450k beta-values. Just like another user recently asked a question about, the rownames are probe ids, but the column names are patient ids.

First question would be, what is the result of the array usually called? (So the beta-values) Looking at the DMRcate tool, they use the term methylation array analysis, would this be a correct and specific term to look further into?
Because I presume I won't be needing BS alignment tools, or any other tool involving BS seq data?

I realize that I'll need to read up about all related topics as well, but right now I'd like to focus on what I will be needing the most for now. Thanks!
