Find four protein structures containing the following sequence motif and having sequence homology of less than 70%. Sequence motif: L or I or V -I or Vor M- any two residues -F - L or I or M- any residue Q G.

(a) Are these four proteins related? (b) Are all the proteins containing this motif related? (c) What is the secondary structure assignment for the residues in this motif? (d) Measure the distances betwcen Co atoms of the first and the last residues of this motif in all four structures. Interpret the results of the measurements.

Recently discovered life forms from the planet X143-AD in the star cluster Eridani contain DNA with four types of nucleotides, and proteins composed of 75 different types of monomers. What is the likely size of a codon in their genetic code? How the structure of their proteins compares to ours? Compare the numbers of a-helices, ß-strands, and B-turms in human and chicken cystatin. Explain the results.
