a simple question about file permissions

Dear all,

would you please advise : on an university SLURM cluster, in order to ensure that i (or others) do not accidentally delete the files on common folders, how shall we set up the account ? Is there a way to setup special permissions or passwords when deleting the files ? Or is there any other way ? thank you !

Simply remove write permissions for everyone. That will have a side effect of not allowing anyone to add/write to the folder/files.

Or set up a separate account as the owner of those assets and su to that account when changes need to be made.
