I am looking for a program that will represent the conflict/support spectrum of splits that will work on MacOS X.

I am aware of SAMS that works on Windows and Spectrum that works on Windows and MacOS 9 but is there a tool out there that will work on UNIX/Linux/MacOS X?

I'm not quite sure but its possible that SplitsTree is what you're looking for. It has a lot of options, is written in Java (for OSX, Linux, Windows), and works fine on Macs. I'm glad you linked to Spectrum, I haven't used that in years, what a great programme that was, I feel all nostalgic!

SplitsTree doesn't really do what I want (or I haven't managed to find how to do it). Essentially, I want to do a split support spectrum for the data as in Fig. 2 of the SAMS paper.

The best place to get it is by emailing Dr. Christoph Mayer. He has SAMS cmpiled for MacOS X, Linux. You can find his email on his webpage. The Windows version can be found in the appendix of his article.
