I am currently trying to setup Metawatt on my server but am running into trouble as described in my email to the author (who has an auto reply that he will not answer before September). So any help appreciated...

I am trying to build the global (all genomes) blast and tax dbs with the metawatt 1.7 gui. However this fails on my Mac as well as on my Linux Server (through an X11 environment). I successfully downloaded and unarchived the reference genomes as linked on the metawatt wiki (all.gbk.tar.gz) to a folder which I called ncbi_metawatt. It contains the subfolders like Psychrobacter_G_uid210641, Ralstonia_solanacearum_uid178852, etc. The metawatt gui only allows me to go through to the final level in this subfolders and select single *.gbk files. These are then apparently successfully processes (the gui says so), but there is no output in the form of blastdbs or similar in the subfolders afterwards.
So what am I doing wrong?
