Hi. I am very keen to know more on how different sequencing platforms generate their data and how their raw data looks like. I have come across the uniqueness of colour spacing for SOLiD ABI and flowspace for Ion Torrent. My next target is PacBio data. Does anyone know more about PacBio's sequencing reads data output? Is there anything unique about the way they generate their data? I am unable to find any solid information online. Thanks.

You can try searching here for "PacBIO" -- there seem to be quite a few threads here. Also what about PubMed?

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=PacBio+sequencing

PacBIO also has a 4 min video on YouTube, but it starts off kind of basic. not sure if it suits your needs.

The PacBio flowcell generates bas.h5 format, here is more information. Installing the SMRT Analysis portal is the easiest way to deal with the data. Be sure to follow the installation instructions carefully, particularly the bit about installing as a new system user on Linux. The package includes the blastr program for sequence searching.
