MEGA X (but not MEGA 7) Error: Access Violation loading fasta file

Hi Everyone-

I have downloaded and installed MEGA X on two computers. One has 16 Gb of RAM, while the other computer has 32 Gb of RAM.

I began my MEGA X session by attempting an alignment. In each instance, I received the following error message:

Application: Error: failed to load fasta file; Access Violation

For both of the computers, I also have MEGA 7 installed. When I load the same .fas file with MEGA 7, the program works properly.

MEGA X has some features I would like to incorporate into my analysis, so I would like to solve this loading issue.

Any ideas on how to resolve the loading issue with MEGA X.
