At DTU Biosustain we develop the next generation (bio) technology using synthetic biology techniques. We create novel methods and technologies as a foundation for development of new environment friendly products, better and less energy consuming manufacturing processes, new medical treatments, climate friendly farming, etc. In other words, we try to solve some of the biggest challenges in the history of mankind, and you will get the chance to add your personal mark to this.

Translate user needs into possible software solutions for data management, search and data analysis You will join a new team with the mission to take DTU Biosustain’s laboratory management systems to the next level. Your and your team mates’ work will provide applications to enable efficient and accurate information capture, extraction and analysis; You will be building the foundation for world-class scientific results.

You will work closely with skilled scientists and subject matter experts to help them translate needs into possible software solutions. As such, you will get a unique opportunity to work with frontend and backend development as well as deployment and application monitoring. Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Build, deploy and maintain software applications for our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and search applications
  • Generate and maintain proper documentation of activities
  • Depending on your background and interests, you may also prototype and collaborate on solutions for data analysis and processing of biological data

Software geek with an open mind and motivation for acquiring new knowledge

We are looking for a colleague that likes to create results based on knowledge sharing and open-minded collaboration. Related to this, you must be willing to work in an international environment with colleagues and partners from all over the world. This calls for your open-minded and pragmatic approach towards cultural and professional differences, sometimes seasoned with a spoonful of patience. Additionally, your CV comprises:

  • A degree in software development/computational science
  • Knowledge of and motivation for building further skills within the below mentioned technologies:
  • Persistence and caching: PostgreSQL, Redis
  • Web service: Python 3, Flask, SQLAlchemy
  • Web interface: Angular, Angular Material, TypeScript, JavaScript
  • Deployment & CI: NGINX, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Github Actions
  • Clouds: Google and Azure
  • Motivation for working with Laboratory Information Management Systems and natural science related software

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
