Senior Database Officer (155181)

Grade 7: Salary in the range of £33,309 - £40,927 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Senior Database Officer to join our team at the Botnar Research Centre, Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), Oxford. The primary focus of the role will be to provide specialist skills to ensure that the department’s extensive Human tissue collection records are rapidly migrated to and maintained within the sample tracking inventory software, OpenSpecimen. You will then maintain migrated records and build new collections within OpenSpecimen as new projects are started within the Botnar Research Centre, and you will ensure compliance with the Human Tissue Act, Data Protection Act, GDPR and Caldicott Principles, in particular with regards to consent, ethics, security and access. You will work with users to provide appropriate training and support to maximise the utility of the inventory platform and act as a source of technical advice for NDORMS Human Tissue Authority Compliance Committee.

You will have an experience of working in a regulated environment and supporting the use of IT systems to maintain regulatory compliance. Your skills and experience will be equivalent to those of a graduate in a science, numerate or IT-related undergraduate degree. Evidence of experience of the extraction, transformation, loading and validation of significant quantities of diverse data into databases and an ability to multi-task, managing multiple streams of work in parallel, dynamically prioritising work as required to meet agreed deadlines are essential. Knowledge of relevant legislation related to human data and sample acquisition, storage and processing and experience of working with OpenSpecimen, LabVantage Sapphire or ProCuro are desirable.

This is a full-time, permanent appointment.

A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £29,176 - £34,804 p.a.) and an amendment in job title to Database Officer with commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.
