Hi everyone,

I am trying to install samtools, Rsamtools and bamtools using Conda but I always get this error for both:

Collecting package metadata (current_repodata.json): done
Solving environment: unsuccessful initial attempt using frozen solve. Retrying with flexible solve.

To search for alternate channels that may provide the conda package you're looking for, navigate to

https://anaconda.org

and use the search bar at the top of the page.

I tried several commands:

1- conda install -c bioconda samtools
2- conda install samtools openssl=1
3- conda install samtools=1.17

What computer do you have ?
If you have a Apple > November 2020 (ARM architecture) there is plenty of missing packages.

If you look here https://anaconda.org/bioconda/bamtools bamtools is available for osx-64 linux-64 but not osx-arm64

One can do it using homebrew as described here (besides cloning git repo and building yourself...)
