Hello everyone,

I'm trying to obtain FASTA sequences for the envelope protein of various HIV subtypes for my research. Specifically, I'm looking for sequences of:

HIV-1 Env A HIV-1 Env B HIV-1 Env C HIV-1 Env D HIV-1 Env N HIV-1 Env O HIV-2 Env However, when I search in GenBank for terms like "HIV-1 A env sequence," I’m only finding a limited number of sequences, including those of HIV-1 (without subtype) and SIV.

enter image description here

Can anyone guide me on how to refine my search or suggest alternative databases or strategies to find the sequences for these specific subtypes? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for protein sequences should you not be using the "protein" database?

If that is the case try: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/protein/?term=%22HIV-1+env%22

You can then limit to Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 by clicking on the relevant link in Results by Taxon in right hand top column.

Thanks. Well, I am looking for the gene (atgc) not the protein (AA) sequence
