Hello everyone,

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration reading and answering this question!

I have probably a very basic question, but I can't find the answer to it: what's the difference between performing colocalization analyses of my GWAS hits and some eQLT data (GTEx data, for example) and annotating my GWAS hits with eQTL data (i.e., assuming that if my variant is rs1234 and that locus is defined as an eQTL in X tissue/cell type and context, just by the physical overlap of both (they are in the same coordinates), I can say that my variant is an eQTL). Since I don't understand colocalization well, I can't understand the difference between this two methods or the actual utility of colocalization. Maybe it's because in colocalization you also take into account the variants in LD with your GWAS hits?

Thank you again!!!!
