The Experimental Algorithmics Lab at the Univ. Milano-Bicocca has an available Postdoctoral position for a bioinformatician with experience in managing and analyzing NGS data, on a project devoted to the study of anti-cancer immune response by regulatory non-coding RNAs, in collaboration with the National Institute of Molecular Genetics (INGM).

Our lab is currently developing new algorithms to analyze transcriptomics data in order to identify ncRNA. We are looking for a candidate that is going to interact with computer scientists, bioinformaticians and biologists, to manage and analyze the (Illumina) data produced at INGM and to help in improving the software developed by our group.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or related fields and experience in dealing with NGS data, a good command of English and written communication. The candidate is expected to interact with a small group and to be able also to work independently towards an agreed goal.

Knowledge of programming (R, Ruby/Python/Perl, shell) is a definitive plus, as well as a good statistical background.

The position is initially for a year (starting from Feb. 1st, 2015 -- or later if agreed upon), but it can be extended. The salary is 24000€/year, before the mandatory retirement fund contribution. According to Italian Tax Code, a post-doc grant is not subject to income taxes (the salary after taxes and contributions is roughly 18000€/year).

The interested candidate should contact Gianluca Della Vedova (gianluca.dellavedova@unimib.it), sending a CV,
