What will be covered? ... Linux interface & command line usage (Mon), RNAseq (Tue), genome assembly (Wed), genome annotation (Thurs), introduction to Python (Fri). Finalized course schedule will be posted 2 weeks prior to course start.

What will I learn? ... This workshop will prepare you to work independently to design and complete expression assays, genome assembly and the basics of genome analysis. Course goals are to provide students with the knowledge and confidence to use existing informatics tools and be able to learn new tools when they become available. Students leaving the course will have the confidence to approach data questions from a creative problem-solving mindset.

Who should attend? ... Postdocs, grad students, staff, faculty, and industry researchers.

What are the prerequisites? ... The only prerequisite is that students have an enthusiasm for learning new computational tools and are willing to work to achieve results.

What do I need to bring? ... This workshop requires participants to bring their own laptop with the current version of Java installed. If you have any questions regarding your laptop, please contact us ahead of time. All course materials including datasets, lectures and software will be provided by us. We will move quickly though the materials and require that all participants are ready to go Monday morning.

Where is the workshop? ... It will be held in Raleigh, NC and will run from 9am to 5pm on the dates indicated. Attendance is limited to 25 participants in order to foster an effective learning environment and ensure sufficient one-on-one attention.
