Dear all,
is the EMBOSS project still alive? I can't download the latest tarball (broken link), the mailing list manager is broken (so I cannot subscribe to ask the question), and their CVS server gives a time-out. Does anyone know?
Cheers,
Philip

A recurrence of Where did EMBOSS go?. Get the alternate downloads from the links in this thread.
EMBOSS is hosted under the OBF servers that also hosted bioperl, biopython, etc. There was a recent server breach detected that took most of the websites offline, including EMBOSS. We have many of the instances back up but EMBOSS is a key missing one (primarily b/c it was using static HTML and not a wiki instance). We expect it to be up at some point, but for the time being I suggest using the alternate download locations.
I'd have not thought so. Perhaps under a different URL? If you still encounter problems, you may try their support & feedback page.

Yes, this appears to be the case, thanks. BTW, I also got e-mail bounces from emboss@emboss.open-bio.org: 421 4.4.0 [internal] no MXs for this domain could be reached at this time (and also postmaster and webmaster).
I'll ask/notify the EBI people.
Cheers, Philip
