The lab currently has an open position for a full-time software engineer to work on various projects related to development of our instrument systems. This is rare opportunity to play an important role in the development of a cutting-edge technology, and to collaborate with a dynamic start-up team. The position will be based in Paris, France.

Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional individual who enjoys working in a highly collaborative and fast paced R&D environment. He/she should be confident working both individually and in project teams, and have a strong background in developing software for complex scientific instrument systems. The successful candidate will work directly with a small team of engineers and data scientists at PicoSeq, as well as having extensive interactions with biophysics research teams at ENS and other PicoSeq collaborators.

Job Activities

The successful candidate will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary software development team, building a suite of new software tools for data acquisition and data analysis, both for current prototypes and future instrument systems. In addition, the he/she will be expected to participate in development and maintenance of the company’s IT and network infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience in the field of software engineering, ideally with knowledge of software development for scientific instrumentation platforms.
  • Expert in C++ and ideally python.
  • Knowledgeable about multithread programming (Boost, Thread, OpenMP, ...).
  • Demonstrated expertise with software development practices – self-documenting code, unit-testing, source control, bug tracking, continuous integration.
  • Knowledge of software design and architecture (MVC, UML …)
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Experience with Linux and windows-based computers systems and networks.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experiences in developing biotech/medical instrumentation in regulated environments
  • Familiarity with molecular biology and/or biochemistry, particularly in the context of integration with instrument development
  • Some knowledge of using web frameworks (Symfony, Flask)
