The Cardiovascular Genetics and Genomics Group is based at the Royal Brompton Hospital and works in close collaboration with Imperial College London. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join a well-established team of Scientists, Bioinfomaticians and Geneticists to deliver bioinformatics and Linux system administration support for the group. The main research focus of the group is to investigate the genetic basis of heart disease, and be at the forefront of variant interpretation in Inherited Cardiac Conditions.

The Bioinformatician and Systems Administrator will actively participate in research programmes of the group, whilst ensuring integrity of our new in-house Linux cluster, storage and MYSQL database. The successful applicant will therefore have expertise in next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis and also Linux system administration, management and backup. Proficiency in shell scripting, MYSQL and Perl or Python is essential as is experience of HPC, preferably in an administrative role.

The post holder will take a leading role in developing new approaches to analyse, interpret and ensure the integrity of data through the next generation sequencing analysis pipeline, as well as opportunities to carry out downstream analysis of NGS data from RNA-Seq, Ribo-Seq, Exome and targeted resequencing for publication and presentation in scientific journals and relevant conferences.
