I have been trying to use the --cachedir option when running my workflow so I do not have to recompute every step every time. When running it a couple of times in succession without changing anything, some steps of the workflow are still recomputed. I have also observed that the first step that is recomputed can be a different step.

If this is unexpected behaviour, I am not too sure how to provide a reproducible example or what kind of diagnostics one would like to see to get to the bottom of this?

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

This is a known issue with the reference implementation https://github.com/common-workflow-language/cwltool/issues/203

Thank you! Setting the DockerRequirements resolved it for me too :)
