The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy announces a new tenure-track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. This position is partially funded by Translational Data Analytics, a focus area of Ohio State’s Discovery Themes; a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact. The successful applicant will have a research program in computational predictive modeling focused on drug-target interactions at the molecular level to aid in drug design and discovery. This candidate will also possess a history of working in multidisciplinary research groups. We especially encourage applications from candidates who are experts in computer-aided drug design and who take novel approaches to analyze and use large chemical and biological datasets. Such approaches would be employed to identify new therapeutic candidates by target-based and/or ligand based strategies. The successful candidate is expected to establish and/or maintain an externally funded research program, to train graduate students and postdocs, and also participate in didactic teaching programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants at the Associate Professor level should have an extramurally funded research program.

Faculty members have access to the many Centers, Institutes, and core facilities on campus. The Division consists of nine full-time faculty, three faculty with joint appointments, and additional adjunct faculty in other Health Sciences Colleges. This environment has resulted in significant collaborations and programmatic grants. Opportunities for collaboration exist within the College of Pharmacy’s other Divisions (Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacy Practice and Science). Collaborations are also established with and/or fostered by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Comprehensive Cancer Center, College of Veterinary Medicine, the Center for Microbial Interface Biology, the Public Health Preparedness for Infectious Diseases program, and the Center for Clinical and Translational Science, as well as at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and interdisciplinary graduate education programs. A broad array of shared resources are available nearby and across the University campus to support basic and translational research.
