Our client has an opening for an Next Generation Sequencing Pipeline Development and Validation expert to provide technical leadership in the area of Software Architecture and Development for the Clinical Genome Sequencing Laboratory (CGSL) as our client embarks on building out a World Class Genetics Sequencing capability.

Develop, and solution the tools necessary to implement a wide range of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) tests from small gene panels to Whole Genome Sequencing, to the Epigenome and Microbiome tests.

Possesses excellent analytical and documentation skills and has the ability to interact with individuals at all levels including Division and Department leadership and will be interacting with laboratory personnel as well as other IT teams and management.

The candidate will also have proven skills in taking Business requirements and formulating those into application solutions that meet or exceed the customer's expectations. Position may be required to provide 24/7 on call support. Interfaces routinely with colleagues who may be located at any of the client Group practices to perform job responsibilities requiring virtual collaboration and partnership. A motivated candidate that thrives in an Agile team development environment and focused to ensure that all aspects of laboratory operations, test design, validation and analysis, laboratory information systems integration, and future unknown needs all work together in delivering the Genetics patient care our Practice requires.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and 3 years' of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience;
  • Or, Associate's degree and 9 years' experience including 3 years' of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Next Generation Sequencing knowledge of software variant alignment and callers as well as methods and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux and experience with developing software pipelines that execute genetics tests from instrument data handling through Patient results analysis.
  • Skilled in the validation and testing of NGS pipelines, generating Golden Data sets and working to verify fully functional systems.
  • Background in creating and managing production IT solutions for Genetics and/or Bioinformatics a plus.

50%-50% on Bioinformatics and Technical skills, May be like 70% on Technical and 30% on Bioinformatics. Master's degree is preferred.

Need someone who can get the project running immediately.

Should follow the internal process - 2 weeks sprints, daily meetings, should work as a team and more demanding if any help is required.
