A unique opportunity has arisen for a motivated computational biologist or data scientist to join the bioinformatics team and extend Healx’s portfolio of metabolomics based personalised medicine and drug repositioning capabilities.

Tasks

You will support our patient group clients by developing and applying Healx’s in silico drug prediction solutions, using a variety of compound and disease metabolic data types.

Skills and experience

You will be an experienced metabolomics data scientist, computational biologist, or molecular informatician with a proven track record of developing bioinformatic workflows, and have a strong data analytics background. You will share a passion for translational research and a desire to improve human health.

Essential requirements

  • Experience in metabolic modelling, for example COBRA toolbox and Flux Balance Analysis-based techniques
  • Accomplished user of mathematical and statistical programming languages: Matlab, R and Python
  • Proven record of applying metabolomic modelling to the elucidation of novel pharmacological or disease insight

Additional requirements

  • Experience working with ‘omics data types, including gene expression, protein, and metabolite quantification
  • Experience working with clinical and pharmacological data types, for example therapeutic compound data, medical disorders, patient histories and outcomes
  • Biochemical pathways analysis
  • Excellent communicator of scientific ideas
