Hi,

I have a gene network of honey bee. Since most of the genes in the network were uncharacterized, I found homologous genes in the fly genome using Biomart, created a network using STRING, did a functional analysis of the genes in the network using ClueGO and suggested a conclusion that since the homologous genes perform a certain set of functions in the fly genome, it stands to reason that the same genes in honey bees could potentially be performing similar functions. An important question is if this is a viable methodology to follow and defend in a committee?

Also, I couldn't find any studies that I could use to cite as an inspiration for doing this. Maybe this paper is good. If somebody knows of any papers that have done something like this, please do inform me.
