Hello All,
I am a complete newbie in bioinformatics and would love to know a few approaches to solve a problem that I have now:
I would like to find all of the SNPs associated with a number of diseases in the African population. What are the ways to do that?
A step-by-step solution and relevant links are highly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
"diseases in the African population" - Can you elaborate what you mean?
for example, I want to see which SNPs are associated with obesity in the African population and make a list of their rs numbers.
There are quite a few studies. Just search for the following in your search engine of choice:
ncbi
gwas
obesity
african
Hi, its not clear if you would like to find a list of known associations or you are looking to discover new ones.
Hi :) I would like to make a list of the known ones.
To the best of my knowledge, I can go to Ensembl and search for the disease and then find the variants. But I do not know how to narrow down the information to a certain population.
