We are offering one outstanding candidate the opportunity to be a leading Bioinformatician/Biostatistician in the genomic prediction area for rare and common diseases.

Igenomix is hiring a motivated professional interested in applying bioinformatics and biostatistics approaches in a biotechnology and human genomics research environment. Scientist will join a multidisciplinary team focused on empowering genomic prediction algorithms for individual disease risk stratification and diagnostic application in the field of reproductive genetics. The leading researcher will also engage with scientists and departments in Igenomix and with collaborators from several national and international institutions to translate results into novel testing applications.

About You:

You will have experience in genomic data analysis and programming in high-level scripting languages (R, Python) and be an effective communicator who has the ability to build collaborative working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in a relevant quantitative biology discipline (e.g. Computational Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics).
  • Experience analyzing large proprietary and public genomic datasets is required.
  • Proven understanding and experience in the fields of genomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS) data processing and high-throughput data analysis.
  • Expertise analyzing whole-exome and genome sequencing data, microarray data and building analysis pipelines.
  • Ability to write code for novel and existing algorithms for statistical analyses of genotype/clinical phenotype integrated information (e.g. genetic risk score calculation)
  • Ability to work under the Linux operating system and on high-performance computing machines. Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g. Python. R ) and in version control software (e.g. Git).
  • Demonstrated applied bioinformatics proficiency as evidenced by relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent communication skills to allow efficient interactions with collaborators.
  • Ability to organise own workload and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to author and co-author scientific papers in high impact factor journals.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze proprietary and public genomic datasets from human subjects in the therapeutic area of women's and reproductive health.
  • Apply computational approaches to identify and rank candidate drug targets suitable for therapeutic targeting.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists at IGenomix and collaborators to prioritize candidate target hypotheses for follow up testing and/or validation.
  • Contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals resulting from the above research, as well as any methodological innovations.
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination in national and international congresses.
