CITRE, based in Seville, Spain, is Bristol-Myers Squibb’s research institute in Europe, and link to the European research community. Informatics & Predictive Sciences at CITRE performs innovative computational research to inform decisions across all stages of drug development. Areas of research include computational and network biology, machine/deep learning, cheminformatics, predictive modeling, patient stratification, and method development for analysis and interpretation of biological and real-world data. In close collaboration with our in-house laboratory, we look to set a new standard in rational design of novel targeted therapies for well-defined patient segments.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and collaborative Computational Research Scientist, Molecular Interactions to join a multi-disciplinary team to:

  • Contribute in both technical and scientific aspects at the interface between biology, chemistry and machine learning.
  • Work to understand and further apply the revolutionary mechanisms of action of novel chemical matter for targeted protein degradation, such as molecular glue and heterobifunctional degraders (aka PROTACs) of enormous therapeutic potential.
  • Innovate through the application, development and integration of computational chemistry state-of-the-art methods and machine learning to leverage orthogonal information sources with a strong emphasis on interpretability at the structural and molecular level.
  • Actively collaborate with scientific teams of different backgrounds and locations.
  • Creatively identify opportunities to apply or develop computational methods that contribute to the data-driven understanding of mechanisms of action and indications.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline, such as computational chemistry, cheminformatics, biophysics or related fields, accompanied by original research publications.
  • Expertise in scripting/programming (e.g. R, Python, C++ or others) and relevant libraries and software (e.g. MAESTRO, KNIME, RDKit or similar).
  • Attention to detail and capacity to communicate technical/scientific concepts clearly and concisely to audiences of varied backgrounds.
