We are looking for a highly energetic, self-motivated individual to join the group of Dr. Subhajyoti De, PhD in the Department of Medicine, University of Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus as a full-time Computational Biologist.
The goal of our group is to understand the basis of genetic and epigenetic abnormalities in different cancer types and other disease conditions, and use that knowledge to improve personalized treatment. We typically use a variety of genomics, bioinformatics and biostatistical approaches, while working in close collaboration with bench scientists, clinicians and biostatisticians. Required qualifications
The candidate should have a Masters or PhD in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related areas, and demonstrate evidence of proficiency in one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.) and a statistical language (R preferred). Knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX on an advanced level is required. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions.
Preferred qualifications
Preferences will be given to the candidates who have experience of working with next generation sequencing and microarray datasets, integration of large datasets, and running software on a cluster. Exposure to cancer genomics data is preferred but it is not essential.
