The Geneva University Medical School and the CANSEARCH foundation (www.cansearch.ch) are hiring a bioinformatician to support our Pharmacogenetic lab in genome biology research.
This is a minimum 50% position, minimum 1-2 years, in the Geneva Medical University, Switzerland.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a bioinformatics platform to identify and interpret clinical nucleotide variation based on next-generation sequencing data.
He will also be responsible for the organisation and management of the bioinformatics infrastructure of the lab and storage of next-generation sequencing data.
Required qualifications:
- Masters in bioinformatics or computer science
- Solid understanding of Linux or Unix
- Demonstrated programming experience (Perl, Python)
- Statistical and analytical ability with programming experience in R
- Experience running pipelines in a High Performance Computing environment
Preferred qualifications include a PhD in biology or computer science, and experience with the analysis of next-generation sequencing data. Prior experience with sequencing data is a plus, but not required. Experience in oncology will be prioritised.
Candidates are required to have good organizational and interpersonal skills as well as excellent critical thinking skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential. Ability to perform rigorous and precise data analysis is also essential
