Description of Work
A post-doctoral position is available at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the areas of Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Systems Biology. Having just joined the prestigious Big Ten Conference, we are poised to make dramatic advances in academic quality, research prowess and institutional reputation. Successful applicants are expected to conduct scientific research, contribute to the development of scientific manuscripts and proposals, provide workflows and pipelines for certain data analysis problems, and participate in collaborative efforts primarily within the University of Nebraska system and with other institutions.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. (with an expected completion by January 2014) in a related science or engineering discipline with expertise in Bioinformatics. Experience with (a subset of) the following areas is desired: transcriptomics (microarray and/or RNAseq), next generation sequencing data, Bayesian Networks, gene interaction networks, biomarker discovery, epigenetics, phylogenetics, metagenomics.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced programming skills to implement complex algorithms, provide web-based and/or stand-alone software tools and database management is a plus.
