At DTU Biosustain we develop the next generation of biosustainable technologies using synthetic biology techniques. We create novel methods and technologies as a foundation for development of new environment-friendly products, better and less energy consuming manufacturing processes, new medical treatments, climate-friendly farming, etc. In other words, we try to solve some of the biggest challenges in the history of mankind, and you will get the chance to add your personal mark to this. High-throughput metabolic engineering – development of novel yeast cell factories
Your will be part of a team of highly skilled Scientists that find yeast and metabolic engineering just as fascinating as yourself. Together with other team members, you will apply high-throughput metabolic engineering methods to improve enzymes and strains. You will use FACS as the screening method and various analytical techniques (GC-MS, LC-MS, HPLC) for validating improved small metabolite production. Your specific tasks will involve:
- Literature review, hypotheses formulation, and experimental design
- Wet-lab work with molecular biology, strain library construction, and high-throughput screening
- Reporting results in peer-reviewed publications and presentations at conferences and meetings
- Collaboration within the group and within the center, participation in international collaborations and outreach activities

PhD with experience with CRISPR genome toolbox, yeast genome editing, and FACS
We are looking for Scientists that are able to turn ideas into tangible results based on good planning skills backed by good communication skills in written and spoken English. As we work with the latest data infrastructure consisting of data lake, data warehouse and institutional knowledge graph linking internal data with universal knowledge, you must be good at data handling and record-keeping. Additionally, your CV comprises:
- A PhD degree
- Hands-on experience with CRISPR genome toolbox, yeast genome editing, and FACS
- Excellent track-record of scientific achievements (publications, patents, awards, grants, conference presentations, etc.)

You will join 12 Scientists in a 50/50 split between PhD students and PostDocs. Our common focus is to develop novel yeast cell factories for the production of sustainable chemicals and natural products. We do so by applying advanced genome editing, metabolic modeling, and omics data analyses for data-guided strain design. Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
