Hi! What's the best, straightforward way to map from NCBI taxonomy IDs (eg. 12242) to viral hosts? Alternatively Uniprot Proteome IDs to viral hosts?

I don't know if it would be possible to make the connection to find the host but you can find out the name of the virus from taxID (or vice versa).

Using EntrezDirect:

$ esearch -db taxonomy -query "tobacco mosaic virus" | esummary | xtract -pattern DocumentSummary -tab "\t" -element TaxId,ScientificName
12242 Tobacco mosaic virus

OR

$ efetch -db taxonomy -id "12242"
1. Tobacco mosaic virus

I have names for my species, just trying to get hosts as well.
